“We are a remote island, bound by water. We have limited resources, and it’s not easy to get off the island, but somehow that fosters creativity, collaboration, and community. We continually find artists drawn to this place...painters, performers, musicians, sculptors, ceramicists... And, to me, if you have artists and citizens gathering, collaborating, and communicating you have true community. We have that on Orcas Island. We also have a truly philanthropic and giving community that supports art and other important causes.”
